Dr. Shivani Shah
Associate Dentist
Community Involvement: I volunteered in various programs but the two I am most proud of are: being a clinical provider for the Give Kids a Smile program and a teacher and translator for students and international volunteers at the Manav Sadhna Foundation.
Why did you decide to become a Dentist? From a very young age, I was terrified to go to the dentist. It wasn’t until I was in my early 20s that, with support from my dentist, I gained the courage to go back. I learned more about my oral health, and got the dental work I needed. As a former dental-phobic myself, I can understand the anxieties some patients may face. However, through my personal journey, I discovered my true passion for dentistry and now take great pleasure in guiding others to overcome their fears and learn more about the importance of their oral health.
What inspires you to work at Preferred Dental Care? What inspires me to work at PDC is our whole team. Every single person on our team is incredibly passionate about what they do, and about keeping our patients happy and healthy.
Hobbies and Interests: As an avid traveler, I am always seeking new adventures and cultural experiences, both within the US and internationally. Whether it’s exploring the natural beauty of a national park or immersing myself in the food and culture of a new city, you can count me in.
I also love music! Having been raised on the sounds of classic Bollywood music, ABBA, and 90s hip hop, my music taste is pretty eclectic. From string quartets playing classical instrumentals to a rooftop hip hop concert, as long as there is rhythm, you’ll catch me having a great time (and maybe even dancing).
What is a fun fact about yourself? I was born at the hospital across the street from the office so it is safe to say I’m fairly local.
Favorite thing to do in Queens: Watching the sun set at Gantry Park over the Manhattan skyline; it never gets old!
